| Brisbane | Brisbane suburbs Posted: Mon October 1, 2007 01:02 AM UTC
I am 27 and single. I am moving to Brisbane next year, and want to move to a fun part of town with bars etc, but that is also a prime location. After doing some researh, West End and Fortitude Valley look like good options. Are these good, and if not, what are some good areas?

Out of those 2, West End would be the pick, Fortitude Valley can be a bit seedy (or more)
You could also consider, New Farm, Tenneriffe, Spring Hill, Paddington. These all tend to the trendy these days, and are also quite central Cheers and enjoy Brisbane

Those are very good areas for what you are looking for. You might also like to look at the CBD, Spring Hill, Kangaroo Point, New Farm or Tenneriffe. All good inner city suburbs within walking distance of the CBD. Heaps of bars and trendy restaurants and cafes. If its nightclubs you are looking for, then Fortitude Valley is where its at.

Mooloolaba is indeed a fabulous place but Lauren is moving to Brisbane to live and I assume to work. Mooloolaba is about 150km north of Brisbane and would be thoroughly impractical if you are planning to work in Brisbane.

Yes I was going to say, read the question! Maloolaba is on the sunshine coast!
Anyway if you want to go clubbing and are into the music scene then fortitude valley is good, but it is a bit dodgy, you wouldn't want to be alone at night.

if its a good night out in Brissy you are after I would put this out there.
Go to Caxton st first and hit the three pubs along there, try get there before happy hr ends, then on to the Normanby for a few, then jump in a cab and over the Irish Murphies for another pint or two. Then off to jojo's for a quick bight to eat then off the Vic, the stocky and the embassy or ceasers depending on weather you want a club or a pub THEN when you are done with that, grab a cab (cos its a big walk trust me) over to RG for a few more quick drinks then hit the clubs in the valley. and if you get that far and find out you're under dressed there's alway good old balooshys straight across from the RG. As for what suburb to live in, I guess it depends on weather your here to work, study or play. Public transport is good but if your looing to walk to your party west end or Milton would be my pick

I stayed for a month in New Farm and really liked it, very close to Fortitude Valley, supermarkets and shops and galleries, a lovely walk into the city along the river and with good bus links into town too.
