Can anyone recomend a good local guide or company that can provide one for a day in Nairobi. We are hoping to go to the slums of Kibera to visit an orphanage and donate some goods. I have heard it is best to go with a local guide but I'm not sure if all guides will take us to this area.

When are you going? My husband and I are doing the same thing when we visit in early November. We also sponsor a couple of kids in Kayole and the guy who runs the program was going to accompany us when we visit. If our dates coinside, perhaps we could go together?

Instead of getting a company, why don't you try getting just a local person to show you around, its just one day, why bother with companies that want business for many days while you can just get help from a local person.
I know one person who is really good and can help you out. His name is Collins Ochieng and he lives close by Kibera and am sure ha can be of great assistance. His email is: collins@mail2africa.com Talk to him, he might assist. Cheers
