Isle of Skye Visiting late October
Posted: Thu September 27, 2007 10:48 PM UTC
I am thinking about a family visit in late October. Can you tell me if there will be many restaurants & cafes etc open - I've head that many close down after the summer season.

Many thanks

According to the following website (http://www.skyeselect.com/amenities.htm) the Old School Restaurant (most excellent) in Dunvegan is open from Mar though Dec. Another in Glendale was open April thu Oct. The site has phone numbers to double check. I would think many places would be open in Portree as it seemed a fairly large town with lots going on. Karl

Cetainly some places will close down (although possibly not until the end of October) but there will still be much to see/do.

http://www.skye.co.uk/ is the official tourist info site, and will have details of opening hours for attractions etc. There's even a link on the left of the page for 'Winter Visitor'.
