Try
http://www.premiertravelinn.com/pti/home.do or www.travelodge.co.uk There are several of these Budget hotels in Manchester city centre - that's what we call downtown. Depending on the reason for your visit and what you plan to do there you might find Salford Quays a good location. It is connected to the centre by the above ground Metro and the bus service is excellent is a bit expensive. Several operators work the same routes Magic Bus have older vehicles and are a bit cheaper. I am a Mancunian and was back there last week on an annual visit. Saddened by the litter strewn streets.....but folk as friendly as ever.

I think the Campanile Hotel has family rooms.
The address is Salford but it is very close to Manchester City Centre.
