Hello!
I'm in Colombo from 8 am to 7 am (23 hours....).
...What can one do in Sri Lanka for such a short time?
Is there any other reasonable option, may be more peaceful, other than Colombo?

Because I probably have to be back at the airport at 4 in the morning, does anybody know what kind of accommodation one can find near the airport? I've heard there are rooms at the airport itself which can be rented (by the hour?). Is that correct? Do they still exist? I couldn't find out.

Any suggestion will be very welcome.

Hi as long as immigration allows you to leave the airport and you don't require a visa for SL, then you should checkout Negambo a coastal city. That's a few kilometers away from the Airport you should be able to find some decent accommodation there and its a relatively quite place with great beach access. And many touristy things to do like the dutch fort, boat rides etc..and has great seafood if your not vegetarian.

well this is what i would suggest if you have the energy
get in to colombo 8-11
shop for cloths and ornaments at Odel,paradise road , house of fashion 11-3
shop for cheap DVD's software , computers at unity plaza/majestic city 5-6
8-10 eat at gallary cafe, dinemore,or seafood @ wadiya, mount hotel........

sleep and take cab.. this maybe a bit expensive, so if your more specific with things u want or cash cost.. will send a better update
