| Nerja | Staying in Nerja in a few days time... ; ) Posted: Wed September 26, 2007 11:35 AM UTC
Hiya VT
I have enjoyed time in Valencia and currently in Granada. I am planning on heading somewhere next where there is a nice beach as well. I have been to Nerja about 8 years ago as my older sister used to live here, and remember it was very pretty. However I dont seem able to find a hostel where I can share a dorm. with other travellers, any suggestions? I am an English teacher and am ultimately looking to settle in a coastal resort for winter at least..I wonder if Nerja might be right for me, any suggestions? muchus gracias x |

I think you may find Nerja a little changed in the last 8 years, gentrified/ britishfied, much more developed and heavily populated by northernEuropeans.
But it is still just about possible to find a little corner or two of Spain there. You might find something suitable here:- http://www.hostelbookers.com/hostels/spain/nerja/

Hi there
thankyou for your reply however I have already looked on most hostel websites to no avail. The link you gave me is for hostelbookers and there still doesnt seem to be any hostels with shared dorms. I cannot afford to pay for two beds in a hotel room, as I am literally backpacking... may I should only visit Nerja for the day and move on somewhere else but if anyone has any other suggestions for me I would sooo happy ; ) I really like the idea of chilling in Nerja with its lovely beaches but maybe it is not to be..all advice is welcome...

I suspected you might not find a dormitory style Hostel in Nerja. Hostal Miguel always looked very nice - we looked in once for someone else and I think it is about 20 Euros. You might have to look in Malaga for a Hostel - there used to beseveral language schools there which might have created the demand.

Thanks very much for the posting. I have booked into Picasso hostel for tomorrow and have been staying at Funky Backpackers Hostel in Granada. They are owned by the same people so should be a good place to stay..
By the way can you recommend any nice beaches or places to visit in Malaga as I have heard that the main beach is very touristy? Muchias Gracias x

Sorry -no - I only know the museums, parks and the castle in Malaga. It is the kind of busy, big town with an almost industrial feel to it that has never enticed me away from the old town. When we drove from Malaga in the direction of Nerja I used to think Rincón de la Victoria looked attractive but never stopped there.
You might find this link useful http://www.altur.com/eng/pmalaga/malaga/beaches.php3 Hope your next stop turns out OK.
