Maui Restaurants

Does anyone have any restaurants they can recommend? (absolute musts) Any kind as long as the food quality and atmosphere are worth seeing and enjoying.

Mama's Fish House in Paia is excellent, right on the beach, but pricey. We also enjoy Roy's in Kihei and Spago's at the 4 Seasons in Wailea. For more reasonable fare, there is Stella Blues in Kihei. For breakfast you can't beat the Kihei Cafe, one breakfast feeds two. Da Kitchen (one in Kahalui and one in Kihei) have great lunches with a more local flavor. Maui Taco (several on the island) is a must stop at least once. Karl

I used to travel to Maui twice a year and I'd always have one meal (and one chocolate souffle-volcano) at Roy's in Kahana.

I've also enjoyed Mama's Fish House in Paia and I even enjoyed Bubba Gumps in Lahaina in whale season at a table with a view.

Rusty's Harpoon on Kaanapali Beach for a daiquiri or margarita and finally Buzz's Wharf in Maaleaa for the baked papaya dessert.

Here's a good link: http://www.mauimenusonline.com/

Have fun!

Hula Grill at Whaler's Village and Mala's on Front Street just behind the Safeway Store (you have to look for it).

You are welcome, please note there is a Fish Market? restaurant in Paia on the main drag (which is pretty good, bench style seating, sawdust on the ground, etc.) but Mama's Fish House is past Paia a bit on the beach side. Be sure to get reservations. Back to the Fish Market? restaurant in Paia, across the street is a place with an eclectic menu and is pretty good , plus live entertainment in the evening and off to the side is a tapas type place that I also like. You can tell which of us stay in the Kaanapali area and which like Kihei/Wailea. If you want to do the luau thing, the Old Lahaina Luau is really good but you should get reservations before you leave.

If you like prime rib and a great sunset then Kimo's in downtown Lahaina is the place. The fish had been excellent but the last two times we went it was not that good.

Our favorite on Maui is Pacific O, located in the southern part of Lahina. They always have creative and top quality seafood dishes, and the location, overlooking the ocean, is fantastic.

I was going to suggest Mala's and Hula Grill as well. Did you go already? If not, make reservations for Mala's so you're there for the sunset - you'll see the sea turtles while you enjoy a fantastic meal (on the patio).

David Paul's in Lahaina was A-mazing. Great seafood and impeccable service. They found out we were on our honeymoon and took our picture for us, and when we returned home, it was waiting for us in my email. Our waiter was great and the atmosphere was very romantic. Loved it!!

Also, the restaurants at the Four Seasons Maui @ Wailea were great too - Esp. Duo and Ferraros. Great steaks and seafood type dishes. They also have Spago there, a wolfgang puck rest. but they cook almost everything in peanut oil there and my hubby is allergic, so we had a very abbreviated menu of things we could eat.
