Hello, I'm going to Oki in the coming Oct-Nov with my relatives, brothers and sisters.
We live in a big city with plenty of nightlife and options, and we are wondering if there's some nice place for people of 25-30 years average for dancing of for a drink. If possible, not for foreigns we want to meet the locals even with our poor Japanese speaking. Thanks a lot! |

Wow..Sao Paulo. My best friend on Okinawa was born and raised in Sao Paulo so don't be surprised if you run into a few Okinawans that speak Portuguese, but you may already know that. Anyway, for your nightlife purposes, you should either stick to downtown Naha near Kokusai Street as you won't run itno as many foreigners down there at night. There is a place called "Swell" you may want to checkout. The number of "no foreigners allowed" places have dwindled considerably around Okinawa over the years as Okinawa has a highly diverse population now. Although it has 1.3 million people, 100,000 are American and anther 20,000 are Koreans just to name a few. So you are going to bump into some "foreigners" no matter where you go. Avoid Okinawa City and Mihama area if you want to keep your nightlife mingling to a minimum. Don't forget the karaoke bars.

Check out the Sakurazaka area in Naha off of Kokusai Street. There are lots of tiny bars and dance clubs. There is a pretty cool one called "Orange." The nightlife scene is constantly changing so you should also ask some of the locals in Naha when you arrive...
