| Stuttgart | Mercedes Benz Museum Posted: Tue September 25, 2007 08:26 PM UTC
Hi, me & my husband plan to visit Stuttgart in a day trip giving priority to see Mercedes Benz Museum. Any tips please? Do we need to book in advance thru the internet or we can just go there and buy a ticket? How do we get there from the train main station?
After visiting the museum, are there any near highlights or places worth seeing? We'll be coming with our 2 year old son, afterwhich we'll be going back to Mainz where we will be based. |

By the way, are we allowed to take pics inside the museum?

DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en From: Mainz To: Stuttgart G.-Daimler-Stadion To: Stuttgart Mercedes-Benz-Welt area map http://www2.vvs.de/Download/Envmaps/vvs/uGoDaSta.pdf with your 2 year old son, I would recommend the Wilhelma, a nice combination of Zoo and Botanical Garden. http://www.wilhelma.de You could use bus #56 from Daimler-Stadtion (Schleyer-Halle) to Rosensteinbrücke. area map http://www2.vvs.de/Download/Envmaps/vvs/uWilhelm.pdf

To my knowledge this is possible. If this is professional/commercial you would need a permission however.

If your husband is a fan of Mercedes Benz, then you should also visit the small city Ladeburg. This is where Carl Benz had his very first "car workshop". The museum is not so spectacular like in Stuttgart, but it's original...
You will pass Ladenburg on the Autobahn A5 when driving from Stuttgart to Mainz.

We went to the museum last October My husband aged 53 and son who is aged 22 had a fantastic time I got a little bored after a while but it was interesting and an excellent display we took heaps of pictures We went by train from Karlsruhe to Stugggart and then caught the train to the Museum station The company had its own station and walked the rest of the way from the station It is well sign posted and you follow the crowd . And there was a BIG crowd try and get there around the time it opens as the queues are long
The building is massive and circular and you start at the top and spiral your way down You purchase tickets then line up at the lifts after you collect the headsets so that you can listen to information throughout the museum in your own language which was good . They only allow a certain number of people to enter at any one time due to fire restrictions and safety so we had to wait about one hour from when we arrived but it was worth the wait. The only thing I hoped they have changed is the total lack of seating for bored wives and the elderly to take a rest I made the mistake of sitting alongside a car display and was yelled at by the security guard so I found I would visit the bathroom on each floor and sit for a few minutes in peace and quiet, I can not remember if you can take a stroller into the museum maybe someone else knows otherwise your son will get very tired walking around .The museum shop is a bit expensive for souvenirs and you can even purchase a car if you have the money. You have to book the Mercedes Benz Factory tour which is at a different location weeks in advance but you do not have to book the museum we got our tickets on the day .Have a great time Cant help with other things nearby as we spent all day there then went back to Karlsruhe .

thanks so much for the info. we are heading for Stuttgart tomorrow, and im sure my husband is excited to see the museum, much as my son who is fascinated with cars in spite of his young age. the dilemma is the thought of not allowing the stroller inside as we always bring it with us everywhere we go.
