| Gibraltar | accommodation Posted: Mon September 24, 2007 10:02 AM UTC
Hola!
Am going to driving around Spain in March 08 and will be going to Gibraltar for a few days in the middle of it all. The idea is to explore Gibraltar and also ferry across to Tangiers. We are a fmaily of 4 (children will be 6 & 8 years when we travel) and would ideally like to all be in one room. Will do interconnecting rooms but they usually bump the price sky high and Gibraltar is looking VERY expensive and are looking for reasonable and clean - accommodation is just for sleeping and ideally parking the car of a night. So are we better to stay in Gibraltar, Algeciras, Tarifa or elsewhere in terms of exploring Gibraltar and getting the ferry? Am I right, also in thinking the ferry is from Tarifa and runs every day? We will be arriving around these parts from Granada direction and then leaving to head in the direction of Sevilla. grateful for any help/advice/tips thank you |

Well accomodation in Gib is indeed expensive. Hotels in La Linea and nearby are cheaper, but I wouldnt stay in Algeciras. There are ferries from Tarifa (check my Tarifa pages) which run every day, actually there are several ferries a day that do the crossing. If you are thinking of taking your car over to Morocco, check if your insurance covers Morocco. Personally I wouldnt take my car over as they drive like absolute lunatics! Also if its a rented car I have heard of stories of people been held up at the Morocco Frontier, while the Police check the cars documents.
