| Sevilla | Family accommodation Posted: Mon September 24, 2007 09:55 AM UTC
Whilst I would love to stay in the executive suite at Hotel Alfonso XIII, which looks perfect for a family of 4... I need to be a LOT more realistic!
Am trying to find a hotel in Sevilla. We will have a car with us so it could be just outside the city. Need somewhere to park at night and it would be convenient if could do that at hotel. A family of 4 (2 children aged 6 & 8) & would prefer children stay in same room as us (which seems to be my falling point) - can stay in 2 inter-connecting rooms but that usually bumps the price sky high. It will only be for 1 night in March 08 which is a long way off but it's part of a driving trip so am trying to be organised and getting accommodation sorted before places are really booked up (especially because thisi s over the Easter period). Will be travelling up from Gibraltar and then heading off towards Codoba, so if acommodation outside of Sevilla would be good to be in either of these directions :) Any suggestions would be fantastic & very much appreciative cheers x |

The Alfonso XIII was a dream! If by any chance you have any Starwood points, they're good there. We really wanted to stay there, so I had points for one night - I then made believe I was paying for two nights and paid for the extra night ... if that makes any sense. We enjoyed it tremendously, and the location is great. As an alternative, you could just come and visit the hotel. The breakfast buffet was way too expensive - so we had breakfast in the little coffee shop across the street.

I am not sure what star points are. Presuming they are the American equivalent of UK nectar points (reward scheme)?
I have absolutely no doubt you had a wonderful time but I am afraid I am not in the market to spend approx £800 for 2 nights for my family so... am still looking for something a little more modest! - especially since the 2 hotels I emailed have both come back refusing 2 children in the room - argh

Did you try the Sol Melia chain?
http://www.solmelia.com/solNew/home/jsp/C_Home.jsp I have not stayed in the ones in Seville, but have used this chain for Madrid. The properties in Seville all show as four stars and the rates are up to 100 Euro. Hope this helps! Martha

Driving up from Gib presumably means using the great road to Jerez then up the AutoPista to Seville. Coming into Seville that way I would start by looking at a large fairly modern hotel which is on one of the main avenues coming into the old town called Avenida de Palmeras. In fact it traces the old route from Seville to Jerez. the hotel is called AL ANDALUS and is part of the Silken Group. It is a large place but well managed and does take groups such as seminars/conventions plus tours, so can get busy but you would find it quite well positioned from access to the city is concerend being only a short taxi ride or even a bus ride. I am uncertain of the room configurations but in my experience the standard double room is large.
Another alternative ...maybe ... is IBIS hotel which is close to the ring road but on the Cordoba road side of Seville. Can't recall what IBIS policy is towards 4 in a room though. Or of they do interconnecting rooms. Worth looking at the IBIS web or even asking the hotel directly.

Thanks for all your help - have finally succeeded - found a Novotel - we can park the car in their car park, all stay in the one room and it's a great price... just Cordoba to struggle on with now!
