Can you tell me if I should take the bus or train/bus to Delphi from Thessalonika on October 24? I would like to arrive in Delphi before it is dark, but I won't be visiting the sights in Delphi until the next day.

The fastest way from Thessaloniki to Delphi is by KTEL bus. KTEL Fokidas (going to Amfissa - Itea), or KTEL Achaias (going to Patra) - and some more KTEL buses - can drop you on the cross-road, about 6km away from Delphi. From there you have to try hitch-hike, there are no taxis on the cross-road. Another solution is to get off at Amfissa or at Itea, from where you can find a taxi to Delphi (but the distance will be about 12-15km).
The other way is by train to Thiva (or Aliartos) and then catch the KTEL bus coming from Athens to Amfissa-Itea (but you have to check if there is correspondence). This bus will drop you in the village of Delphi.
Some buses are running also at night, I don't know if this can help you.
