You could get a slightly cheaper fare by booking two single tickets instead of areturn, but to do this you would have to meet the 'advance' criteria. Click on the individual ticket type on the left of the fares section for criteria.
Driving in London is pretty horrible, and it will take longer then the train, at least 2 hours. It could take much longer if you hit traffic congestion! Not worth doing (and with petrol and parking would cost around the same anyway, if not a bit more).
