My husband and I are truly in love with new orleans!!!!
We always go in the spring but this year we wanted to go in December for his 50th birthday. Has anyone ever experienced the Christmas season in New Orlenas? I know the hotels have the Papa Noel rates |

Sure, I visited there X-mas in the year just after Katrina hit. Check out my pages for NO "After Katrina". New Orleans is definitely alive during the holiday season.

While you're there, don't miss the bonfires on the levee---a cajun tradition on Christmas Eve in which very artful, often fancy and always creative bonfires are built on the Mississippi River levees in order to light the way for Papa Noel. This goes on until midnight. There's a festive spirit and a lot of good food and beverage. You might need to travel a little ways out of the city for this, but it's worth it.
