Schloss Neuschwanstein How to get there.

I'm wanting to go visit Schloss Neuschwanstein, but not exactly sure how to get there. I will only be traveling by train/bus. Are there buses and or trains near by?

DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/e
To: Hohenschwangau

The bus stop is close to the ticket centre. See also the map at the bottom of this page
http://www.hohenschwangau.de/545.0.html

From Munich or other places in Bavaria you could use the Bavaria Ticket for this trip. A day ticket covering all regional trains in Bavaria plus most other local public transport. E.g. the buses from Füssen to Hohenschwangau.
Validity
Mo-Fr 9am till 3am next day
Sa,So midnight till 3am next day

Bavaria Ticket Single (1 person) EUR 19,00
Bavaria Ticket (2-5 persons) EUR 27,00

I remember being stung with that stupid bavaria ticket, by a very angry ticket inspector. Something about not using it in various times.

But yeah, a train to Fussen, and then you'll be right.

abalada's referral to http://www.hohenschwangau.de/545.0.html is a good one. There are pretty specific instructions given there. Some more links for the Neuschwanstein / Hohenschwangau area are: http://www.hohenschwangau.de/553.0.html, for travel possibilities to the castle once you arrive. http://www.hohenscwangau.de/ticketcenter0.0.html, for ticket information. http://www.hohenschwangau.de/guidedtours.html, and click on the flag for the english page. Depending on when you are going, you might want to look in to buying your castle tour tickets online to avoid the lines there. Another possibility, is to book a guided tour. Some actually meet you at the main train station or hotels in Munich. They should handle all the ticket & transportation issues for you. The castle tour itself will be the same, lasting about 30-35 minutes. Gary
