| Kent | Allhallows Leisure Park, Medway Posted: Wed September 19, 2007 09:05 AM UTC
We have a bargain break here next week, so far have booked a day trip to Calais and found some National trust properties to visit. We enjoy walking and being outdoors rather than shopping, any suggestions for must see lpaces or walks would be great. Thanks

Hello - we have discovered lots to do in Kent when going to one of the Channel ports the day before an early morning sailing.
As you like walking I'll start with that. Walking the cliff path on the White Cliffs of Dover is rather special. Head out to St. Margaret at Cliffe and follow the sign to the WW1 Dover Patrol Memorial where there is some limited Parking and there is a little cafe too in the old coastguard look-out.. Its a good place to set off for a walk - the views are very good over the channel and the harbour.. Other attractions include Canterbury Cathedral - I am told the admission charge is quite high these days.....but a must see if you like history. Rochester Castle in Rochester - of course. Leeds Castle in Maidstone. We haven't been yet to the newly opened Dickens World at Chatham. Just exploring some of the picturesque villages is not to be overlooked either. Two good websites, which you may have already - but in case not - they are www.visitkent.co.uk www.kentattractions.co.uk have a good break.
