I flew from Solo to Kuala Lumpur by Air Asia. Solo is an hour's drive from Yogyakarta. You may look at their website whether they fly from Yogya.

From Semarang to Yogyakarta
--------------------------- As far as I know, if you want to go to Yogyakarta from Semarang, the best alternative probably using bus. There is a transportation service callsed "Joglosemar" (Jogja - Solo - Semarang). It will server those three routes. There are about 24 seats only. It's quite comfortable, a little bit different from the public bus. There are some pickup points in Semarang (Simpang Lima, Tourism Information Center, and also Miranda Resto). Schedule from Semarang: 06:00 AM (the earliest) until 08:00 PM (the latest) The schedule very two hours. It takes about 3 - 4 hours. It is recommended that you arrived at pickup points an hour before the schedule. Ticket (one way): IDR 40.000,00, around USD $4.5) You can choose the stop points in Jogjakarta. Most of them are located in the heart of Yogyakarta [Kedaung Plaza (near Malioboro Street), Santika Hotel, Borobudur Hotel)].

Oops, just want to add some notes.
If you want to travel to Yogyakarta in Mid October, the transportation traffic will increase due to Lebaran. Many people will come to Yogyakarta. Usually, it is a litle bit difficult to book a ticket to Yogyakarta. It happens every year. So, make sure you book your ticket few weeks before Lebaran. Mid September 2007 - Mid October 2007 is the month of Ramadhan. At the end of Ramadhan, there is a religious observance called Idul Fitri or Lebaran. Many Muslims visit their family and relatives. Jogjakarta is one of the main destination. I hope you find the information useful. :)

i took adam air from yogya to jakarta and i had some reservations on taking the adam air flight due to the recent airplane crash but luckily everything was smooth sailing :-). i reached jakarta 15 minutes earlier than scheduled which is a plus point. however, because adam air is a budget airline we only received mineral water on board.
