Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Belgrade Booking trains online for Serbia & Montenegro & Bulgaria
Posted: Mon September 17, 2007 10:51 PM UTC
Hi,

Just wondering how I can book trains online for Serbia, Montenegro and Bulgaria? I looked at the Serbian railways site but can't see any way to book online (maybe I've missed it) and I've found 2 e-mail addresses where people say you can e-mail about train tickets but I've got no reply from either.

The tickets I'd like to book are

Belgrade - Bar (sleeper)
Podgorica - Belgrade - Sofia (sleeper to Sofia)

thanks

You just can't book on-line. They cannot process credit cards. Even at the station the only way to buy tickets is to use ATM first opposite the ticket counter, than pay cash.

In shoulder season the chance to get Beograd-Bar sleepers even for the same day is pretty good. For Sofia it's always pretty good.

Thanks for the reply - it's good to get confirmation as I couldn't see any way to book online, but was afraid I was missing something.

I take it that the same applies for booking by phone as they can't process credit cards? That would mean in person when we arrive in Belgrade is the only way to go?

I'm normally well organised in advance - shame there's no alternative.

Not just in person, but I would strongly advise to use Wasteels travel office at the station (or one of several Putnik travel offices in the city) rather than the railway office. The later seem to be less organised.
