Easter Island Xmas and New Years Eev
Posted: Mon September 17, 2007 04:36 PM UTC
Hello!!
I´m Planning to go for my honeymoon to EI, for 15 days in Dec/Jan. Do you think that this is too much? Any tip for a romantic (and not very expensive) hotel?

Thanks!!

Depends on what you want to do.
If you just come to see the culture of the island I would suggest staying not longer than a week. If you also want to relax you could stay 2 weeks.
Be aware it is a rather small island !!

If you want to stay in a not very expensive hotel I think you will have to choose for one of the many guesthouses (residencials). We stayed in Residencial Tahai and were very satisfied. See for more info about Easter Island 9and the residencial): http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/7c27b/946/

happy travels to this very special destination

Far, far too long. Spend a few days there if you like, but spend the bulk of your honeymoon elsewhere (Torres del Paine/ Chilean Lake District/ Laguna San Rafael/ Foz de Iguacu/ Paraty/ Rio/ Salvador/ Machu Picchu, depending on taste.)

It depends on what you like. I would go back and spend 2 weeks (and more) there anytime.
But if you like to see a lot of different places in a few days or you are used to some resort-style vacations, then you may get bored. If you like to relax, go to the beach and just enjoy the landscapes and the culture of the island, you can stay there as long as you want. You can do some horseback riding, trekking, surfing, diving, exploring the island by car (4x4), bicycle, etc.
If you like the countryside, pure nature and simplicity, you will love it (it's lovely for a honeymoon). If you prefer luxury vacations, you may want to stay for a shorter period of time.
