| Girona | From Gerona City to Barcelona Airport Posted: Mon September 17, 2007 01:58 PM UTC
Would like to stay in Gerona Centre an extra day instead of spending a night at a BCN hotel. With a 1:00 PM flight out of Barcelona need the quickest, least expensive way to get from Gerona Centre to BCN.

The quickest but not the cheapest will be by train.
There is also a bus which goes from the bus station (which is next to the train station. For more info check out: http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/transport/b

mad4travel, you write about getting from one city to the other , then there is a leg to BCN ap. (what already was described on this forum and others)I don't know about any direct connection
i feel the bus is more reliable : www.alsa.es to be at around 11(:30) at BCN ap shouldn't be very difficult, anyway :)

If I understand well, you sould travel from Girona town to Barcelona-El Prat airport (BCN), right??
In this case, certainly the direct buses from Alsa are the only direct option, but not the cheapest (about 18 euros) and there are only 3 buses a day, so you should depart awfully early (5.40) to arive on time for your flight, as next bus (11:10) arrives to BCN at 12:45) train will be a lot cheaper and quite convenient, and there are many a day. You might take a train from Girona to Sants in Barcelona (6.45 euros), there you can take a train to the airport for about 1 euro (regional line 'cercanias' C10)departing each 30 minutes, it should take 20 minutes from Sants to BCN. taking the train at Girona around 8 AM, you should have plenty of time to arrive in time for your flight

Thank you to all who took her/his time to respond. I need to get into downtown Barcelona. Train looks like the best option.
I love the trains in Europe. They are so foreign to my American experience of driving myself.

Didn't mean to confuse anyone with my reply about getting to the center of BCN, not the airport which was the destination when I posted my question. Plans changed since I first asked. There is nothing but good, however, to come from spending another evening in Barcelona.
