| Valletta | New Years Eve in Malta?? Posted: Mon September 17, 2007 11:59 AM UTC
Hi, me and my sister are thinking of heading to Malta for New Years Eve. Weve never been there before but as well be travelling Italy it is close for us and thought it would be something different.
Does anyone know what goes on and if there are any festivals, traditional parties, etc. Or anything that would be helpful would be great. Is Valletta the best place to stay? Any suggestions on where to stay, hotels, hostels etc.. Were not fussy just something not too expensive... We are planning on staying about 5 days over that period. Thanks.. |

I'd suggest to stay in Sliema area. There are lots of hotels there. I'd recommend Hotel Marina in Sliema; on the waterfront promenade.

Valletta has no night life, better to stay Sliema or Saint Julian's. There are plenty of hotels to choose from, just search the web, my favourite is the Hilton ;-)

Hello,
I would suggest that you stay in St Julian's or Mellieha area. If it's nightlife you're after and don't want to travel too far back home then St Julian's is for you. On NYE they generally have fireworks. Clubs don't seem to get AS excited as the UK but I would much prefer to spend a NYE in Malta than UK. It's far cheaper. Some places you have to book in advance but most you can just head to on the night. Really good idea that you are venturing into Italy as well as so perfect to take advantage of the short links from Malta.

Sliema cld be a gd place. Lots of stuff going on. If you want a less expensive place to stay there is a place called, I think, Pebbles Apartments or Apart hotel. It does have a web site or you cld google self catering in Sliema. There will be lots of fireworks -and Maltese fireworks tend to be much more BANG! than pretty lights. But it is also a time for chur going & family so you wld have to research what is available in the way of entertainment.

Hi. I am Lawrence from Malta. The place you would like to stay in depends what you are after. Certainly the Sliema, St Julians area is one of the best areas if you are after nightlife. On New Years day Malta will be introducing Euro as its currency, so a big street party is going to be organized in Valletta on NYE night. But still all bars, clubs and pubs organized very cool parties during this night. If you would like more information, you can contact me in my VT mail box. Bye
