| Belgrade | bars or cafes within walking distance of Belgrade Posted: Mon September 17, 2007 04:20 AM UTC
I will be in Belgrade on Sept 20, staying at the "Intercontinental" Hotel (Vladimira Popovia 10). I will be able to see some sights of the city as part of a tour but I was wondering if there are any good places near this hotel to get a drink, meal, or coffee. I have not been able to find much travel info on this part of my trip and I'll only be there a short time and I do not expect to be too adventurous because I only speak English and tend to get lost, but I would like to at least explore a bit on my own. Thanks.

wherever you are in the city, don't forget to pay a visit to SKADARLIJA.

Belgrade has a tourist info site which, whilst still being developed, nevertheless has information on its English pages:
http://www.tob.co.yu/english/ If that link doesn't work, go to http://www.belgradetourism.org.yu/ and click on the English/UK flag link top left. There is a link to a streetmap which will hopefully stop you getting lost (the hotel will probably have hard copy maps available too, so I suggest you ask them). The hotel will also be able to suggest good restaurants nearby; it's a cafe society still, so you should have no problems finding somewhere to have a drink or a coffee.

Hello,
There is a Belgrade primer at the Belgrade Foreign Visitors Club http://www.belgradefvc.com/wiki/index.php/Belgrade Most of the places on this list are close to your hotel (max 5 mins by taxi). Kind regards Jonathan
