I do not know Hotel Milan in Panama City, but I'd highly recommend the Balboa Bay ( www.balboabaypanama.com ). It's a great place for travellers, located in the central Bella Vista neighbourhood. It's a safe zone withing walking distance to Via Veneto, Avenida Balboa. If you have the occasion taste the "Langostino a la Criolla" in the Costa Azul restaurant (near Via Veneto, on the road on the backside of the Rey Supermarket - it's open 24/7).

If you can do not just visit Panama City, San Blas and Bocas del Toro, there is much more to see!

Hotel Milan is 2 blocks of Via España in the central area of the city. It's a reasonably price hotel that is usually clean and well maintained although nothing flash. You have a lot of stores, restaurants, bars, casinos etc really close by.

Depending on the time of day/traffic the airport is anywhere from 25 minutes to an hour plus from the city. There is a toll highway that is very quick except for rush hours (mornings coming into town and evenings going out of town). You want to go by the highway (called the Corredor Sur in Spanish).

Taxis at the airport cost $25 or you can share with others for about $10 each - they try to find 3 people going in a similar direction.

There is another hotel that is very popular for budget travelers called the Marparaiso and it usually has a shuttle bus waiting for most flights - look for someone holding up a sign once you leave the customs area. The shuttle is free for guests. www.marparaisopma.com

Hope this helps,
Andrew

Just saw question re Canal Museum...
The Canal Museum is in Casco Viejo which is about 10 to 20 minutes from the Milan by taxi, $1.25-1.50 one person, $1.50-1.75 for 2.
There's a great map at www.mapipanama.com - go to the Ciudad de Panama map and you can zoom right in. The Milan is blue dot #34 in square I4.
The Canal Museum is green dot #31 in E6.

Cheers,
Andrew
