| Tehran | three or four star hotel in Tehran Posted: Sun September 16, 2007 01:04 PM UTC
We shall be spending two nights in Tehran and are looking for a quality hotel from U.S $130 to $150 per night. I am told that North Tehran is the more desirable area for tourists to stay. We shall be flying in to Imam Khomeini at 9am, and wondered how far suggested hotels are from this airport, and what we should expect to pay fo travel from the airport to the hotel.

Hi
Imam Khomeini airport is far from the heart of Tehran. It is probably an hour drive if the streets are not crowded which usually they are so might take longer than that. Are flying in from a middle easter country because to my knowledge all flights comming from europe land and mehrabad airport which is more conveniant as it is located close to everywhere. yeah north tehran is more suitable i recommend the following hotel: Esteghlal Hotel .... i think a double bed room would be around that range $150, i highly reccomend u stay at this hotel as other cheaper hotel might not be pleasent. Keep in mind a 5 star hotel in iran is not equvielant to a 5 star hotel on international standards. The service sector in iran is very poor and limited, given the political situation, and the embargo on it and its not a country that encourages tourisim. But i'm sure u will enjoy it lots as it has lots to offer and ppl are very social and frienly and love foreigners. happy travels wafa

Hi. The Imam Khomeini Airport is about 60km or so from the so-called 'quality' hotels in the northern part of tehran, which you are looking for and referring to! I would recommend Hotel Homa (formerly Sheraton) and Esteghlal Hotel(formerly Hilton Hotel, especially the latter which, I think, is perhaps the best hotel in Tehran, although i might be wrong. take care. bye.

let me tell you something
these hotels are the same price as 4 star but they are not4 star, they are considered 2 star hotels in the rest of the world. You better check "Golshahr Apartment hotel" that one is pretty nice and the location is amazing. A.

hi 'rmtextiles',
for a rate that low ($20 a night) you would have to stay at 2-star motels/hostels (popular gathering spots for mostly young European backpakers) in downtown Tehran or pretty close to it. I know about 'Firouzeh Hotel' and i have been told there are others below $20 on Amir Kabir Ave. I am wiling to make a reservation for you if you are coming for sure! by the way, check www.lonelyplanet.com. there you will find more answers to your question on its 'Iran Forum'. If i can help you more, please let me know. Bye. Amir
