Is the water safe to drink or would u recommend buying bottle water or taking water purification tablets just in case?

Oh, now I see you asked in the "Johannesburg" forum, so I presume you mean only in the city and that you are asking about "tap water" or water from a faucet.
Johannesburg has a high quality of tap/faucet water - similar to Europe standards. I am not aware of health problems about it and I happily drink it myself.

The environmentalists are starting a backlash against bottled water. Consider the plastics used for the bottle, label, inking and the fuel used to deliver it . . . . .
They are now pushing for good piped water as the environment-friendly option.
