| Genoa | Cruising from Genoa Posted: Sat September 15, 2007 05:58 AM UTC
WE are a little familiar with what to expect after reading the posts. My husband, family and I will be traveling to Genoa by train from Milan. It is set to dpt Milano Centrale at 10:25pm and get into Genoa at 12:20am. Okay so dark and scary and unfamiliar are all concerns at this hour. We plan to reside in the Guest House Maura for the evening before we sail the next day. Can anyone help with the following:
How far is it from the Genoa train station (Piazza Pri-according to the train website) to the following address, Via Bruno Buozzi 30/3, Genova, italy, 16126 and what is the safest way at this hour? Has anyone heard of this guesthouse? How far is it from this guesthouse to the MSC cruise terminal? Best way on return from Cruise terminal(MSC Cruises) to the train station in Genoa(Piazza Pri) and approx time it take to get to train station from cruiseport? If you do know any pricings for the travel within Genoa please let us know:) Thank you so much for any help you can give. God bless, Jabibi |

Hi, firstly the train station is in Piazza Principe. That said let me see if I can help. Point by point:-
1/From Piazza Principe to Via Bruno Buozzi is approx. 500 metres walking distance long the Via San Benedetto. Stations are always a problem late at night anywhere you go. For the sake of a few euros, it may pay you to just jump in a taxi(especially if you have luggage). 2/From you guest house to the MSC terminal at Calato Porto Franco is a distance of approx. 2 kms 3/On your return, the distance from the terminal to Piazza Principe is approx. 2.5 kms These are all short distances, so taking taxis will not be expensive.

I really love Genoa and would love to return, but there is no denying that it can be rough and Italy doesn't come any rougher than nightime at the train station. Do yourselves a favour and take a taxi to the hotel. Also, make sure to inform the hotel that you'll be checking in really late.
By the way, what time do you arrive in Milan? Is that 10:25 train the last one to Genoa? Do you have a plan in place for if you miss that train due to a delayed flight or luggage hold-up?
