I haven't heard if they closed. I could see it happening. I had a friend that stayed there and told me alot of street people were using it and it was a bit of a smelly place

There is a former Holiday Inn hotel near the airport and can be reached by their van. It's a bit of a walk, but can be done. I don't know the name nor rates.

Aloha David!

The airport's mini hotel closed shortly after 9-11 for security reasons. However, there is a nearby mini hotel if you just need a place to shower and
sleep. I spoke with the owner the other day (for my guide book update) and could hear Nimitz Hwy traffic in the background but she was outside, and she assured me the rooms are soundproof.

Here's what I have:

Nimitz Shower Tree Mini-Hotel Here’s another option if you just need a place near the airport to shower and sleep: The Nimitz Shower Tree Mini-Hotel is clean, economical and friendly. You’re not paying for aesthetics or amenities here because there are none, but it'll fill the bill if a good night’s sleep before you spend your first beautiful morning outdoors in Hawaii is all you need. The hotel's located on a busy highway, but they have soundproofed sleeping cubicles and 24-hour security. Rates for reserved sleeping cubicles (except room #10, double bed full size room) range from $35 to $45 (single occupancy) to $55 to $65 (double occupancy). You do share a bath and shower, but they promise they clean after each shower (which is more than health clubs do). Their claim to fame? "Hawaii State Health department said we have the cleanest restrooms in town!" Parking's free, and they're near a bus stop. Contact: 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Hawaiian time.

Glad you found it! Thank you for telling me. I pulled that straight out of
my ebook. Sure enough I accidentally chopped the number off in my book. Thanks for alerting me to this. Good things it's an ebook or I'd not be able to fix it so easily.

Aloha
