Check with the Australian consulate in Jeddah... copy & paste this link into your browser: the website of the embassy in Riyadh seems to have a table of events for Australian expatriates... surely, they might also have some groups/community news, etc. for Jeddah as well?

| Jiddah | Not an aussie, but know of some in Jeddah Posted: Tue October 9, 2007 04:54 PM UTC
Good evening,
I know of some Aussies here in Jiddah. The people at the Australian consulate are most likely the best people to first get in contact with. I have been here in Jiddah for one month now. Things are going well, but as a woman, I am finding it hard to get around. Please share any tips that you might know of regarding transportation. I am beginning to amass sufficient courage and will soon make my debut on the city busses I keep seeing zip by me. The cost of private drivers add up fast!!! I will be going to Abha tomorrow (all by myself) I hope all goes well. I hope to make it down to Nijran and Jizan before I head back to Jiddah mid next week. If anyone is in the area, please write to me. Also, I am interested in meeting up with anyone currently in Jiddah. Much saudilongings.

Gday John,
I rarely use virtual tourist but here is my email address. kirsten.tomren@gmail.com I do have some exciting and surreal stories of how my bins are made of waterford crystall and smoking in first class on royal airplanes. My Saudi experience is very limited within the palaces walls(A nice place to be most the time) I would very much like to hear if your trip over is as horrific as mine(being male you should be fine). You can share your experience in 'normal life' Jeddah and Il let you know when I meet the KING! Best Regards Kirsten
