San Juan Cruising from San Juan
Posted: Fri September 14, 2007 04:59 AM UTC
We will be flying into San Juan in early February 2008 on a Saturday for a cruise. We would like to arrive late morning - early afternoon, but cannot board our ship until the early evening. We would like to see some of San Juan, but do not know what to see or what to do with our luggage.

Can anyone make any recommendations as to what we can do in the afternoon and evening since our ship does not depart until about 11:00 PM? Thank you.

Hi,

Not sure about your luggage (but maybe you can drop that off at the ship first). As for Old San Juan, there is plenty to see.

I would start at El Morro (you can either walk there from the cruise pier or take a taxi or the fee trolley service).

Take a look around El Morro, then head back into Old San Juan and work your wau downhill: Places to see:
the cathedral, san Juan Gate, Paseo la Princesa.

Places to eat: tapas bar in el convento, parrot club, aquaviva, dragonfly, amadeus. There is also Carli's (in the old Banco Popular building). The owner played with the Beach Boys and there is jazz music most nights (I have not been yet, but it is on my list).

There is more info at my blog:

also check out this google map to see where the various places are:

Also you could subscribe to the blog, as it gets updated often

Hope this helps

I'm also going on a cruise from San Juan in Feb.......I'm assuming you're going with Princess because it sounds just like our cruise. You can board/check-in as early as 1pm and you have to check-in at least 3 hours before it sails.
