Hi,

Me and my boyfriend are heading out to Sri Lanka in December so that he can watch the cricket in Colombo and Galle. How long does it take to get from Bentota to the cricket grounds in Colombo and Galle?

Hiya Claire,

Galle is easy, its about an hour along the coast down the Galle Road (that,s if you can resist stopping off for a swim along the way) it's a nice easy run by train too. You can't miss the cricket ground in Galle, its across the road from the station towards the Fort.

I'm not a Colombo expert but it can take you two hours by road depending on the traffic, just getting into/through the city can be a bugger at busy times and the train might be an option here too. Is the game at Premadasa Stadium or the Sinhalese Sports Club ground? both are pretty central.

benthota to galle- 1.5 hrs, public transport
same to colombo..

if your on a low budget, take a bus to galle/colombo and then tuk tuk from base bus stand to cricket ground.

some clubs in colombo may have good crowds during enlish cirket season.

Its a short distance from benthota to Galle but not sure whether the match will be played in Galle as its still not renovated after the Tsunami. From Galle to colombo around 1.5 hours but during weekdays there would be traffic like crazy. If you're jumping on a train start from Benthota after around 7.15. then you'll avoid the crowd.

I went to the cricket ground in Galle two weeks ago, still a lot of work to do there, I expect it will be ready...........probably
