| Trier | Time for walking tour Posted: Mon September 10, 2007 02:57 AM UTC
We are older tourists (66 and 73). How long does it take to walk the entire route of tourist sites? We have artificial knee and hips. Should we take the little train?

From Porta Nigra to the Imperial Baths the distance is 1400 m. They mark the opposite ends of the old city. To the amphitheater it's another 700 m (slightly uphill which lies in the nature of most Roman amphitheaters).
But if you walk through the city centre there is more than one sight, thus normally you don't walk the whole distance straight at once.

How much time does it take to walk that distance? We are not familiar with distance measured in KM although we could make the conversion if it wasn't so late at night.

I imagine it is too late for the OP however for someone else who may be wondering. My DH has one knee replaced and one that needs to be. He was able to take the walk from the Porta Nigra to the Baths and back. We went very slowly, spent quite a bit of time in the market square and then to the Cathedral and then to the Constantine Basilka. It was hard work getting him to the baths, and he didn't walk around them. We spent the better part of the morning doing that. If you have a hard time walking, take other transportation.
