There are so many answers I could give to this question ;-)))
Basically the English use the word "crack" as a version of the Irish word "craic" which means fun or good time. "Ace Crack" means he had a lot of fun. Regards John

As convenience for the crack is your main aim I would stay in 7 or 8.......you could move down to walking street but it tends to be dearer.2nd rd Soi 2 to 4 are busy at the top end not so much the beach end.....
but for the shear convenience of walking out of you hotel and straight into a bar 0 Sois 7 and 8 have it. I would suggest either Flipper lodge Soi 8 or Flipper House soi 7

I think where to stay in Pattaya is a personal preference. I like the area near Soi Honey Inn. From that area I can easily walk to the Royal Garden Mall, street vendors and lots of bars and restaurants. Easy access to cheap 10 baht "baht bus" rides on Pattaya 2nd Road or from nearby Soi Buakhaw.
Lots of hotel choices in the Soi Honey Inn/Soi Skawbeach/Soi Diana area. You can book a couple nights at the hotel you used before and scope out some of the other areas off Pattaya 2nd Road. You don't have to book your entire Pattaya stay all at one time. Up to you!

'---- wheres the best soi to stay in"
* Soi Honey Inn is ALSO the name for the street that the Honey Inn is located on. Like Soi Diana and Soi Skawbeach. (The Honey Inn is undergoing some extensive re-modeling but it is still open and has people staying there. The entrance in on the back side of the hotel. I wouldn't stay there just now - too darn noisy! I was there this afternoon visiting a friend. Bay Breeze and Intown Holiday, on Soi Honey Inn, are better choices at 500 baht per night.) Hal

I stayed at sandy spring hotel on soi 13. 13 is near many beer bars, What soi isn't? It is also walking distance to the Gogo clubs and walking street. Also the hotel was real nice! See my report http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/1e4db/161f12/3/
for more information on the hotel.
