Hua Hin Public transport from Bangkok Suvarnabh Airport to Hua Hin
Posted: Fri September 7, 2007 10:11 AM UTC
Hi, I'm going to Hua Hin for a couple of days. Though I've found private transfer services, my friend and I are travelling on a budget so would like to know what are the public transport is available to get to Hua Hin from Bangkok Suvarnabh airport, and also from Hua Hin back to Bangkok city. IS it convenient? and how much does it cost, and how long would it take on public transport? Thanks, appreciate your help.

Hi.. there are two modes of public transport available. The train leaves from Hualamphong station by Chinatown. Check out State Railways of Thailand for timetables. There are a number every day & they have 3 classes to choose from (sometimes) . Then there is the bus which is cheap & takes about 3 hours. You catch that at the Southern Bus terminal. You should be able to get a taxi service to pick you up at the airport & take you to Hua Hin for 2000baht. I took the bus a couple of months ago & it was 160 baht I think but it cost me 200 baht to get from the hotel by the river to the bus terminal. If you have time on your hands take the train. That way you get to arrive at the beautiful Hua Hin station. There are public transport ways to get from the airport to the train station but it depends what time you get in.

Thanks alot for the info. But how do you get from the airport to the Hualamphong train station? is it in the city? Is there a closer train station from the airport? And if I wanna take the bus to Hua Hin, where is this south terminal relative to the airport? Thanks again =)

I like to go to Hua Hin by train and often I take a train no. 43 it's sprinter take around 3 hr and a half from Bangkok. the train leaves Bangkok around 8 am. and you have some other choices it depends on your time to get in, other trains will take longer time. Sprinter by now cost less than 400 Baht. In my opinion take taxi will be the best way from Airport to Hualamphong, it should cost less than 500 Baht.

If you want to go to Hua Hin by bus, you can take air-con bus no. 556 from Airport to southern bus terminal. Airport and southern bus terminal located in different side of Bkk and way out of the city. I think average time will take around 1 hour between those places. It costs 35 Baht ( 5 months ago) And there at southern bus terminal you can buy bus ticket to Hua Hin. I dont think it needs reservation, there's quite a number buses leave to Hua Hin daily, the air-con bus to Hua Hin should cost less than 400 Baht.take around 3-4 hr from Bkk.

On the way back you just go to Hua Hin Raiway station or where to get in the bus both located in central of Hua Hin and in walking distance from anywhere if you stay in central Hua Hin.

sorry I'm a bit late but the best way to go from bangkok tot hua hin (and back) is by taking a minivan at the victory monument. take a cab or bus from the airport (in 2008 you can take the skytrain) to the nearest skytrain station, take the sky train to victory monument and get out in front of the century movie plaza building. at the left you see the minivans and a quz who is selling the tockets for bht 180,00 it takes just a bit over 2 hours to arrive in the center of Hua hin.

This is my way....
From Suvarnabhumi airport I take the airport express.. AE4 to Hua Lumpong train station, cost... 150 baht.

From Hua Lumpong station i take the third class train to Hua Hin... takes about four or so hours.... cost 48 baht.

Wooden seats, no aircon, but enjoyable journey.
