Cardiff Somewhere nice to eat?
Posted: Fri September 7, 2007 10:08 AM UTC
Hi
We are going to see the Police at the Millenium Stadium in October, and are staying in Newport Holiday Inn Express. We would like to eat somewhere nice before the gig. Any suggestions? Should we travel to the stadium and eat near there? The gates open at 4.30pm so we would like somewhere that serves late afternoon but that is good and semi special as we are celebrating birthdays too.
Please help.

xx

There are many good quality restaurants in Cardiff and several near to the Millenium stadium.
The 'Old Brewery Quarter' is a popular eating area, as is 'Mill Lane'. Another road is 'Church Street'. All are within 5 to 10 minutes walk of the stadium.
A little further away is 'Guildford Cresc' (15 to 20 minutes walk) where there is a superb Portugese restaurant (The Madeira), but I'm not sure what time it opens.

The "Riverside Cantonese" is a possibility, one of the best Chinese restaurants you will find. They are only a few minutes walk across the River Taff from the stadium. I live nearby and went for a birthday meal there, which was top class and very reasonably priced. According to their website they serve Dim Sum till 5pm and are open from midday till late.
