| Montreal | New Year Ideas?????? Posted: Fri September 7, 2007 01:42 AM UTC
Hi there,
Thinking of traveling to Montreal for the holiday and staying at the W? I was inquiring regarding the location or any great restaurants. Is a car rental necessary? Jennifer |

The W has great location and, between walking and taking the Metro, you don't need a car if you concentrate your activities within the downtown and old town areas.
As for restaurant suggestions, Montreal has so many to choose from that you will get as many recommendations as there are people. If money is no object, you should try Queue de Cheval (about a 10-min walk from your hotel) which serves the best steak in town. It is the place to see and to be seen. You could also try Toqué! for a culinary experience you will not forget. Book way ahead. For a special treat and great atmosphere, try to get a table at Joe Beef. A small restaurant run by two of the best chefs in Montreal. Book ahead. La Brunoise is also a small place getting great reviews. Whatever you choose, you should have a grand time.

Here's a map to your hotel location:
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=901 West of McGill street and south of St-Antoine (i.e. your hotel location) is Old Montreal. You'll find plenty of restaurants and activities there. Pomerol has given you some great restaurants. Other suggestions would be Chez L'Epicier at 311 St-Paul East, Café Ferreira at 1446 Peel and Gibby's at 298 Place D'Youville. Here are the directions from your hotel to each of those restaurants. Chez L'Epicier: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&hl=en&geoco Café Ferreira: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&hl=en&geoco Gibby's: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&hl=en&geoco You could also ask your concierge about it. Enjoy your stay... and your meal! Max

That should have been: "East of McGill street and south of St-Antoine"
