Kauai Travel Forum

We are head to Kauai in 2 weeks for our honeymoon and we have not snorkeled much. (some in Cabo) Is there an Ideal spot to snorkel on your own for less experienced persons?

My favorites:
Queens Bath, Secret Lava pools, Lydgate, and Poipu. These are all easy to maneuver and the reefs don't pose too much danger. There's also Hideaways and Larsen's, however, they can sometimes be a bit dangerous.

Ke'e Beach:
At the far end of highway 560 ( loop all the way around the eastern edge, then up to the northern edge ) you will find Ke'e beach at the western end of the Haena Beach Park.
It provides a great location for a beginner because the reef blocks the surf. As you become more comfortable with snorkling you can swim around the western end of the reef out into slightly more turbulent waters.

Niihau:
Take a one-day trip by catamaran to Niihau. The snorkeling is great there. And on the way back they cruise along the Napali coast.
