Hi,
I with my wife would like to travel from Rome to Verona on the 19th Sep 2007 by Train or bus. Kindly advise us how much time will it take by train and bus and which is better and economical at what frequency they are available. From Verona we will be going to Brussels on the 23rd Sep 2007. Kindly suggest trains from Verona to Brussels. Thanking You Regards, Arvind |

For convenience and speed, I would use trains. From Termini Station to Verona takes an average of 4 hours. There are a few direct services but most trains go to Bologna where you would have to change.
There are a lot of different services from Verona to Brussels, but nothing direct. You are going to have to change at Milan/Paris or Milan/Basel or Milan/Frankfurt. This is approximately a 12 hour journey. For timetables and fares try: www.trenitalia

It looks like Dominic's reply got cut off...www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html (this will take you straight to the pages in English).
Dominic's comments are on point - trains will be far easier and more comfortable, particularly within Italy itself where the price of train travel is much cheaper than in northern Europe. As he noted, Verona to Brussels is a long trip. Some people would prefer to fly on one of the discount airlines that fly out of Brescia/Verona, Venice, Treviso, or other airports in the northeast of Italy...but if you take the train, look into an overnight trip that will save you a hotel night and will have you moving while you're sleeping... Re Train travel from Verona to Brussel:
- The only practical night train option would be a night train to Paris, from where it's only 1h25min to Brussel. One could conceivable even spend that day in Paris and take an evening train onward to Brussel. However, the night train passes through Switzerland, for which the OP might not have a visa. - There is a daytime connection involving several transfers that doesn't go via Switzerland. Route would be Verona - Milano, Milano - Paris, Paris - Brussel.
