| Hangzhou | Orlando, Florida to Hangzhou, China Posted: Sun September 2, 2007 06:28 AM UTC
What's the best way for a poor college student to get from Orlando to Hangzhou, China?
I need to stay there for at least four days, and it needs to take less than a month for me to get there and back. Remember, I have limited budget (meaning money for food and maybe a few nights at a cheap hotel). Thanks guys. |

Well, when I shop carefully and buy ahead, I pay between $800 - $1000 for air fare
for Detroit - Shanghai. I am told that you can sometimes get better ticket prices from "consolidators" - these are travel agents who buy tickets in advance and resell them. Check them out carefully - some are good deals, some are problems. I haven't used this option personally but some friends of mine do this all the time and swear by it. Once in Shanghai you are a 1 - 2 hr train ride (very cheap) to Hangzhou. I usually stay in business hotels (higher price) but if you are adventurous you could stay in Chinese hotels for relatively low prices. Eat local food - the Western restaurants are much more expensive than local food. Best of luck!
