Hi,
Just booked flights to Lima for Christmas/New year's holidays. I'm trying to form an itinerary, and wondering if the evening train from Ollyantaytambo to MP runs during that time - I'm aiming for December 27-29, so that I can have a full day in MP. Perurail indicates that there is no backpacker train service in December. Since evening train isn't even on Perurail's website, is it possible to make reservation? Thanks in advance. |

Advice to call them from home for the info and make reservations. That's how we did it. They will ask to confirm by calling them again when arriving in Lima and then when arriving on the spot pay and receive the tickets.

I am planning to go there for Christmas with my girfriend, and I have thought of the following itinerary: Ollanta-Macchu Picchu in the Vstadome 5 (leaves Ollanta @ 14:55), then spend the night in AC, and leave Machu Picchu the next day either in The Vistadome 2 @ 17:00 or in the BackPacker @ 15:55
I think it's possible to make reservations for the train in advance, but the thing that worries me the most, is the ticket entrance to MP. Do you have an idea where can I get it? Is it possible to buy it online, or it can be bought only in Cusco? BR & Thanks in advance

Entrance to MP can be bought at the entrance to the ruins, no problem.
