| Quito | Galapagos short trip Posted: Sat September 1, 2007 06:00 PM UTC
Hi
i am thinking of going to lima with a friend in February 2008 and i wanted information on a trip to the galapagos islands for a few days. Has anyone had a trip there and can tell me what the trips are like and the duration? I want to book the trip when i am in Quito so has anyone done this and have any good suggestions for tourist agency there. Kindest regards Clive |

I did a 4 night cruise of the Galapagos and 2 nights in Quito in June 2007 and loved it!
I've posted some photos and a trip report of the Yacht Isabela II ship that sails from Baltra. Accomodations in the Galapagos are scarce at times since it is 600 miles from the coast of Ecuador. Be sure to check to see what season it is for mating, etc. as some islands are closed to tourism during these times.

Baltra is the location of the main airport for Aerogal, etc. near the 2nd largest island--Santa Cruz.
It is where the main harbor holds the various cruiseships in the area. I can't quote any prices for other cruiseships but I was paying about $250 a day on a very special deal, not including the $100 per person park entrance fee. I think much has to do with the time of year and what is available. Have you done any research on tour companies that handle the cruiseships?

Hi!
We are also looking at trip to the Galapagos around the same time, I've been quoted $400 US dollars for 4 night - 5 day trip, staying on an island (not a cruise) and doing day trips. How is your spanish? I've been in touch with an agency I've found on this link: http://www.in-quito.com/uio-kito-qito-kyto-qyto/sp But all communication is in Spanish... see how you go. Good luck!
