Hi! I'm a US citizen trying to travel on my own to Sanya. I heard that there might be visa on arrival available, as long as I don't go to any other location in China other than Sanya. Is this true ? Appreciate your help !

Hi!There have been visa upon arrvial from year 2004 in Hainan province.It is available in 15 days.

Do you mean FOR 15 days? The visa on arrival is good for 15 days?

thanks for the info; btw, do you know where I can find the "official information", ie govt website or something ? Some Sanya travel agents don't seem to know about it ?! I'm also going to call the embassy next week, but sometimes even they don't know about local rules ! :-) THANKS !

The policy has been implemented in Hainan since Apr. 1st 2002. People in the countries which have eatablished foreign ralations or have official trade affairs with China can get visa upon their arrival for 15 days.I was in tourism management major in university and I got this information from our professor.
Today I surf on Hainan tourist bureau website and it proves right.But I cant find the English official website.Youd better call the Chinese embassy in your country for some help.

Yes, there is policy of free visa for 15days for citizens from USA, Japan, Singapore and other 18 countries to our Hainan. But as far as I know, it's not for the individual traveller. It requests must be at least 5 persons, enter and depart at the same time.
