| Positano | Travel time from Naples to Positano - Bus or Boat? Posted: Fri August 31, 2007 03:05 AM UTC
What is the quickest time to get from Naples train station to Positano? We will be arriving in the afternoon of 6th October and travelling to Positano. I've also heard that there are porters at the ferry terminal who will take the luggage to your accommodation. Those steps look a bit daunting to drag your cases up. Also, does the Sita bus go passed via della Tavolozza, 5. I think that's it for now.

Hello MaggieMay, Unfortunately the SITA bus does not drive by via della Tavolozza. The train from Naples stops in Sorrento and from there you will need to take the SITA bus to the stop called 'Sponda' (The second main Sita stop in Positano) - (an intersection) and then walk down the street of via C.Colombo until you get to your accommodation (about 10 mins). If you arrive by ferry in Positano then the best thing to do is hire a porter to take your luggage up through the town to where you're staying. They charge around €5 per bag. It is worth every penny. Believe me, you don't want to be dragging your luggage up and over cobble stoned pathways and weaving in and out of crowds of people in narrow alleyways..UPHILL! You have picked a great time to visit Positano in October...because it is humid and quite hot right now ... and crowded with Italian holiday-makers. October should be warm (not humid) and less crowded.
I hope this helps you. Enjoy your holiday to Positano. PS: I recommend the boat because its quicker and you get a nice view of the coast. Depending on the time of day and the number of tourists around, the bus can get very crowded and hot and uncomfortable (often standing room only).

Thank you very much OzinPos - that's very helpful information - although I think my friends are going to kill me because I thought the bus stop was very close to our accommodation and they've got dodgy knees! Ah well we'll just have to face that problem when we get there. Thanks once again for your quick reply.
