Hi.. i will be in Delhi in the next week with my family and i have onward journeys to mumbai,goa.. Im staying in Grand sartaj hotel in a place called Aurobindo Marg. I have only one and a half day to see Delhi.They say the hotel is near Qutub minar and lotus temple. I just want to plan my sightseeing(places to see in the evenings and day)We arrive on one evening,stay for the full next day and depart the day after.Is is advisable to hire a taxi for a day or make instant arrangments?

You can get private cars on 80 Kms. and 8 hours basis. Extra Km. or Extra hour means extra charges. If you hire a good taxi, the charges are between Rs.10/- to Rs.15/- per Kilometer. Drop there in the hotel take rest. Ask the hotel management to hire a taxi for the next day. Here there are other private A/C bus operators, who are doing sightseeing business. You can inquire from the Hotel. Your Hotel is 2-3 Kms away from Qutub minar.

I agree with the above posting, we also hired a car out through our hotel earlier this year, ok a little more expensive that we would have paid if we had negotiated for our own on the street but a Nice, clean and fairly new car.

Qutub would be around 5 Km from your hotel and Lotus temple around 8 km.Metro rail construction is going on infront of the hotel you have booked so the road gets its share of traffic jam at peak hours.India Gate is also within 10 Km from your hotel.Red Fort another 5-7 Km from there.
