Posted: Wed August 29, 2007 11:54 AM UTC
I might go from Antwerp to milan. I saw Brussels airlines will take only 1:15.

I tried to see the train connection, but I saw only long duration of about 13 hours .... ooops Is there fast train connection, probably I could not find?

flights with snba depart from Brussels/Zaventem Airport.
So you need a train from Antwerp to the airport where you can then catch up a flight to Milan.

13 hours is about the fastest. Don't forget that Milan isn't exactly near Antwerp...

It's 432.86 miles/696.61 km from Brussels to Milan. The fastest train connection I can find from Brussels - to which you would have to add at least 45 minutes for Antwerp - is 11h32, but this is with changes in Tournai, Lille-Flandre, Paris (arriving at Paris-Nord, departing Paris-Est) and Zurich!
The fastest trains from Paris-Lyon to Milan take nearly 7 hours (e.g. dep. 08:04, arr. 14:50), you can also go from Paris-Est to Zurich (4h34, e.g. dep. 08:24 arr. 12:58) and change there for Milan (3h31, e.g. dep. 13:09 arr. 16:42), taking a total of 8h18. However it may actually be more convenient to take a slightly longer train overnight, taking 9 hours from Paris-Bercy (dep. 20:28, arr. 05:38).
Brussels to Paris only takes 1h22 on Thalys, to Gare du Nord. Gare de l'Est is close by but if you were leaving from Gare de Lyon or Bercy you would have to cross the city. Of course if you wanted to include Paris in your trip, it could be convenient to stay there on the way.
Otherwise, it is definitely easier to fly, and from Brussels Airport, which runs a shuttle bus to Antwerp. You can also fly Ryanair from Charleroi Airport to Bergamo (Orio al Serio), but then of course you would have to take into account transfer times at both ends: the coach from Bruxelles-Midi to Charleroi Airport takes about 45 minutes and the one from Orio al Serio to Milano Centrale about 1 hour.

It is obvious now that airplane is much better. The best route is to drive from Antwerp to Brussels airport, then get a direct flight to Bergamo either by Alitalia OR Brussels airline. My destination is Bergamo itself, so I will not need to drive to Milan.

The flight takes 1 hour & 45 minutes. Isn't it much better?

Thanks Lyn for the details.
