I'll be traveling on both the North Island (Auckland) and the South Island (Christchurch, Greymounth, Queenstown, Milford Sound, Dunedin) in the last week of September and the first week of October. What would the weather be like?

Well just coming out of winter, so expect some (quite a bit actually) of rain. I know Auck well, and can rain there any time of year (but like most of NZ, late Jan to early Mar probably driest). Always rains in Greymouth and down west coast of South Island! (no, I guess they do have the odd dry day, but expect the worst!).

We can get occasional cold snaps (frosts away from coasts; snow inland and in high country) until early Dec, but mainly warm in North Island from Nov onwards. Right now, we have very mild weather for this time of year (I'm in tee-shirt) but will no doubt be back to sweater within next day or so!

So pack for showers and cold, but expect quite a few of warm periods to.

Cold, cold and cold lol :-)

Actually we have very nice weather. Freezing cold at night, plenty of sunshine during the day. Some days ago they got 40cm of snow at the skifields of Queenstown, Wanaka and on Mt. Hutt :-)))

October is notorious for throwing a cold spell at us right when we think it's warming up . One thing is for sure, it won't be hot :-)
