Ferry from the UK to Santander
bus (Continental Auto) or train (Renfe) from Santander to Madrid
bus (Secorbus) or train from Madrid to Cádiz

Well it will be a VERY long trip, but maybe they can plan a holiday stopping at these places to make it more pleasant

BTW, congratulations!!

I am not sure if those ferries actually operate during the early weeks of the year across the Bay of Biscay. One of the most comfortable ways of getting to Cadiz is by train. Firstly get the EUROSTAR to Paris. Then the TREN HOTEL to Madrid. Then the train from Madrid to Cadiz. (Maybe other combinations but this is the normal route) - I always consult the MAN IN SEAT 61 ! when looking for any train type info. Not sure if this is up to date but it is a great start ! http://www.seat61.com/Spain.htm

As Belsaita says, they can make a holiday using the train. Maybe a night in Madrid and a night in Cadiz ? Plus other stops on the way ! Paris ?

Lisa,

UK to Cadiz? What a cinch! Fly from London to Seville. From Seville to Cadiz is a mere 1 1/2 to 2 hour bus ride. Simple. In terms of flights from London, your folks would have to look into charter flights or discounted flights to less frequented destinations such as Cadiz. The big carriers like BA or Iberia will most likely deposit them first at hub cities like Madrid and Barcelona.
Good luck.

If the fear of flying has disappeared by the end of the year, then Jerez airport is the most convenient and Ryanair do daily flights. A bus from the airport now joins Cádiz.
