I am an English speaker who is about to move to Bolzano for 6 months to play hockey and I was wondering if anyone knew what it's like to live there. Are there many english speakers there? What's the social scene like? Is it easy to get around without a car; I was going and buy a bike there. Are the streets paved well enought to use my rollerblades

Bolzano is not a big town. You can easily go almost everywhere by foot. What do you mean with "social scene"?
Bolzano has some museums, lots of cafes and various restaurants.

If you like beer, frankfurters, speck and berliners, you'll be okay ;-)
Don't expect to find the Las Vegas of the Alps, tho! I'm sure you'll get along very well. Enjoy! Raoul
