Damascus is our daughter's middle name so that should tell you how we feel about Damascus. It's not the prettiest city but the people are fantastic, the food is amazing, so much history, excellent museums, beautiful architecture...of course the government is among the most repressive we've experienced, up there with Iran, Vietnam, etc. When we were there 7 years ago, there was no internet access, international publications were always delayed since they had to get by the censors first, etc. And still, the people won us over. Highly recommended.

im plannning on going to abu noor also. are u taking the year long arabic course? i am thinking abt beginning for the course date in december of this year. have you visited abu noor before?
