| Krabi | Krabi or Phuket? Posted: Sun August 26, 2007 01:57 PM UTC
Hi, I'll be in the area from 21st Dec - 27th, approximately. I'm thinking that it may be an idea to book accommodation over the internet before I arrive as it'll be pretty fully booked when I get there. I guess my first question is, is that correct? (I'm looking for budget stuff). Second, if I do have to book now, would you recommend Krabi or Phuket? What's the difference? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks. Dan.

hi
it depends what you are looking for, but I would say you will need to book early for christmas time. Phuket is more commercialised and touristy, lots of shops and bars etc. heaps of fun though. I have never been to Krabi but I am pretty sure it is much quieter, not so developed. Have a look on some websites & maps for more info on krabi. cheers

I'm going to Krabi during that same time period and just booked my accomodation today. My first choice was already sold out, so I'd suggest booking as soon as possible for the best selection -- and price...

I think Krabi is much better than Phuket, less touristy and less sexual tourism.

Hi,
Just back from Krabi from a 3 day trip. Went to Phuket 1 year after the Tsunami, around 2005. Phuket was really quiet that time not losing the fun at Patong Beach.More water activities and shopping available at Phuket. Krabi is quieter for unspoiled island hopping, snorkelling/diving and elephant/trekking trip. Yup, Please book accomodation soon. I'll be putting up some Krabi pictures on my travel pages soon probably next week. You can take a look at them. Happy Travelling.
