"any info would be helpful" - you are WAY TOO VAGUE
do you want info on where the great candy store is? info on how to get there? info on hostels in the area? info on what animals i saw last time i was there? and, if you come back and ask for accommodation information - give us a $$$ figure that you want to spend, what amenities you want, if you want it in town or is outside of town alright, cabin, hotel room, etc...

Where are you from Tina?

Sept. is a lovely time to come to Banff, I would suggest coming after Canadian Labour Day. What is your budget? You might look up cabins here:

www.banklakelouise.com (click on "accomodations")

If you are staying in the town of Banff, you will have a good chance of seeing elk, as they like to come into town. Bears are hit and miss. For example, we were at a hotel in the Rockies having lunch, and a baby black bear walked up to the dining room window and stuck his face up to it, oggled us, then ran off. It all happened so quick. So, It's the luck of the draw. What I would suggest you do is drive the highways at dawn or dusk and you will have a greater chance of seeing wildlife.

I know a lot of the pages here seem daunting to go through, but really, the best thing you can do is surf the Banff pages here, as they are provided for information for all, then come back to us with specific questions. Feel free to browse my Banff page and let me know if you have questions.

Have fun!

Hi.

In addition to the great advice you've already received from Helen, I would suggest you have a look at the website for Baker Creek Chalets. They have self-catering suites and chalets which might suit your needs. They are situated about halfway between Banff and Lake Louise, so you can easily travel in either direction to explore.

http://www.bakercreek.com/

If you do go to the website, be sure to check out the specials page. They have a couple of packages that are offered during part of September which might make your stay more affordable.

And I would agree that early September is a great time to visit Banff; in fact, it's my favorite time of year to go there.

I also have a travel page on Banff, which may give you some ideas on things to do and see while you are there.

Enjoy your vacation!

Hi We were in Banff for 7 days during June this year, just such a fabulous place with plenty to do. We had a car during our visit and were able to visit the surrounding districts, we even went on an overnight visit to Jasper, well worth the effort, took the tour of theColumbia Icefield Glacier which was fantastic, more so because we live in Australia where Ice and Snow are extremely rare and only occur within 1% of the country.

A trip to Lake Lousise is only just over an hour by car and well worth visiting. We also had an overnight stay in Canmore , approximately 20 minutes drive from Banff, a very nice small town well worth visiting.

You are welcome to view my Banff pages, also Canmore pages, hopefully they may assist you with your holiday decision.

I will be working on my Lake Louise and Jasper pages over the next month.

Should you have any query just email me.

Good Luck,
Mike
